Which routes are included?

The Kids Go Free offer applies to selected Stena Line routes between Great Britain, Ireland and Northern Ireland. That makes it especially interesting for family road trips, school holiday travel and visits to friends or relatives across the Irish Sea.

Cairnryan-BelfastBest if you are travelling from Scotland to Belfast or Northern Ireland.
Liverpool-BelfastA longer crossing that can work well if you are starting from northern England or the Midlands.
Holyhead-DublinThe classic Wales to Dublin route, useful for Dublin, the east coast and onward travel across Ireland.
Fishguard-RosslareA good option for south-east Ireland, Wexford, Waterford, Cork and road trips towards the south and west.

If your main destination is Northern Ireland, compare the Stena Line crossings in our guide to the ferry to Belfast. For Dublin, the most obvious route is usually Holyhead-Dublin, which we explain in more detail in our ferry to Dublin guide.

Why this is a good family ferry offer

This offer is mainly interesting because it is built around family car travel. Instead of flying with luggage restrictions and then arranging a hire car, you can bring your own car, pack more freely and continue the trip as soon as you arrive.

That can make a big difference on Ireland trips. With your own car, it is easier to visit places beyond the main cities, stop whenever you need to, bring pushchairs or sports gear, and keep the journey flexible if you are travelling with younger children.

Ferrygogo tip: this offer can be especially useful for school holidays, but check the final fare carefully. Kids travelling free does not always mean the total booking will be cheapest on every sailing, especially if peak dates, cabins, pets or flexible tickets are added.

Economy or Flexi?

The offer applies to Economy and Flexi motorist fares. Economy is usually the cheaper option if your dates are fixed. Flexi can be useful if your plans may change, as Stena Line says Flexi tickets can be changed without an amendment fee, although you still pay any fare difference.

For family trips, Flexi can be worth comparing if you are not completely sure about your travel dates. The cheapest ticket is not always the best value if you may need to change the sailing later.

What is it like on board with kids?

Stena Line highlights family cabins, food and drink, onboard shopping, Premium wifi packages and children’s areas on selected ferries. The exact facilities vary by ship and route, so check the details for your sailing before booking.

On shorter crossings, the main advantage is simply keeping the family together and avoiding the airport routine. On longer crossings, such as Liverpool-Belfast, it can be worth thinking more carefully about comfort, timing and whether a cabin or reserved seat would make the journey easier.

If you are looking at Wales to Ireland routes, our guide to the ferry from Wales to Ireland can help you compare Holyhead-Dublin, Fishguard-Rosslare and other options.

Ferrygogo verdict

This is a useful Stena Line offer for families planning a road trip to Ireland or Northern Ireland. The biggest advantage is simple: you can bring the car, pack properly for a family trip and avoid starting the holiday with airport stress.

It is strongest if you were already planning to travel by car and your dates fit the offer window. Compare the total booking cost, including any extras, before deciding. But for a family ferry trip to Dublin, Belfast or Rosslare, Kids Go Free is definitely worth checking.
