Brittany Ferries has launched a Kids Go Free offer for summer 2026. Children aged 15 and under travel free on eligible ferry crossings to France and Spain when travelling with a full-paying adult.

For families, this is one of the better ferry deals around: pack the car, skip the airport queues, bring the bikes, buckets, scooters, snacks and half the house if you need to, and start the holiday on board instead of in a departure lounge.

Why this offer is worth checking

Family travel can get expensive quickly, especially once you add child fares, luggage, car hire, parking and the usual collection of holiday extras. With this offer, Brittany Ferries removes the child fare for children aged 15 and under, as long as they travel with a full-paying adult.

That makes it especially interesting if you are travelling by car. You can take your own vehicle, avoid airport baggage limits, and bring all the family extras that somehow become essential the moment you have children: scooters, beach toys, car seats, snacks, tablets, favourite cuddly toys and possibly a small supermarket.

The other advantage is the journey itself. On many Brittany Ferries ships, there are play areas, games rooms, cinemas, entertainment and places to eat, so the crossing becomes part of the holiday rather than just a way to get there.

Best routes for families

The best route depends on where you are going and how long you want to be on board. For a shorter family crossing, the Normandy routes are usually the easiest fit. For a bigger summer holiday, Brittany, the Atlantic coast or northern Spain can make more sense.

  • Portsmouth to Caen: a strong all-rounder for Normandy, Brittany and western France
  • Portsmouth to Cherbourg: useful for the Cotentin peninsula and shorter driving days in northern France
  • Portsmouth to St Malo: great for Brittany holidays, especially if you want to arrive close to the coast
  • Poole to Cherbourg: often a practical shorter crossing from the south coast
  • Plymouth to Roscoff: a good fit for western Brittany and Cornwall-based travellers
  • Portsmouth or Plymouth to Santander/Bilbao: best for the big Spain road trip, with much less driving through France

What is included?

  • Children aged 15 and under travel free on the child fare
  • Children must travel with a full-paying adult
  • Valid on eligible Brittany Ferries routes to France and Spain
  • Available from Portsmouth, Poole and Plymouth
  • Applies to all ticket types
  • Applies to vehicle fares and foot passenger fares
  • Valid for travel until 31 October 2026
  • Bookings must be made by 23:59 on Monday 6 July 2026

What is not included?

The offer applies to the child fare only. It does not mean the whole booking becomes dramatically cheap by magic. Cabins, reserved seats, onboard accommodation, meals, pets, add-ons, booking fees and the environmental contribution may still increase the final price.

It also cannot be combined with Brittany Ferries package holidays or other special offers, and sailings are subject to availability. In other words: check the final booking total before getting too excited. We have all been emotionally betrayed by a checkout page before.

FerryGoGo verdict

This is a strong family offer, especially if you were already considering a Brittany Ferries crossing for a summer holiday in France or Spain. The biggest wins are likely to be on bookings with multiple children, car travel and routes where flying would mean luggage stress, airport parking, car hire or awkward onward travel.

For shorter crossings to France, the offer can make a family ferry trip feel much more competitive. For longer crossings to Spain, the child fare saving is useful, but cabins and onboard accommodation matter more, so compare the total fare carefully.

Our advice: use the offer as a reason to check prices, not as a reason to book blindly. If the dates, route and cabin costs line up, this can be a genuinely handy summer saving.
