Irish Ferries advertises the fare as £55; the small print quotes £56 for midweek departures. Either way it is a cheap day out: a wine run, lunch in Calais or a trip to the Cité Europe shopping centre, and back the same day. You need to return within 24 hours of your scheduled arrival in Calais.
In a nutshell
- Price: from £55 (£56 in the conditions) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday departures, £93 on any other day
- Included: a car and up to 5 people
- Trip length: back within 24 hours of your scheduled arrival
- Conditions: book at least 24 hours ahead, book by 30 December, travel up to and including 31 December 2026
Our tip
Take an early sailing out and a late one back: the 24 hours count from your arrival in Calais, not from departure. Check the duty-free allowances before you load the boot, we explain them in our guide to duty-free on ferries to the UK.
Our verdict
At £55 for a full car this is the cheapest day trip to France we know of this autumn. P&O has a similar day-trip fare, so compare departure times on our Dover to Calais page before you book.
