The deal in one line

Irish Ferries offers return trips to Ireland from £228 for a car and one passenger, on Tuesday and Wednesday night sailings across the Irish Sea.

This is the return version of the £154 one-way fare. It works on the night crossings from Holyhead to Dublin and Pembroke to Rosslare, and only midweek. If you can leave on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening, it is one of the lowest return fares for a car to Ireland.

In a nutshell

  • Price: from £228 return for a car and driver
  • Sailings: night sailings on Tuesday and Wednesday, off-peak
  • Routes: Holyhead to Dublin and Pembroke to Rosslare
  • Conditions: book at least 24 hours ahead, subject to availability, can’t be combined with other offers or Tesco Clubcard tokens

Good to know: since 28 September 2026, every passenger on Holyhead to Dublin and Pembroke to Rosslare needs a valid passport. Read what changed.

Our tip

Extra passengers are charged on top, so for a family compare this fare with a standard return on a daytime sailing. For two people with a car it is usually the cheaper option.

Our verdict

Good value if your dates are flexible and you don’t mind a night crossing. Stena Line has a comparable short-stay offer, see our overview of ferries from the UK to Ireland to compare routes.
