DFDS early booking offer 2027: 15% off crossings to France, Holland, Jersey and Ireland (book by 1 February)
Checked: 1 November 2026 · book until 1 February 2027 · travel in 2027 · no code needed
Every autumn DFDS opens its early booking sale for the following year. It is one of the few moments you get a straight percentage off almost every DFDS route, rather than a fixed fare on one crossing. The 2027 edition runs until 1 February 2027. If you already know you’ll cross the Channel or the North Sea next year, this is the moment to lock in dates while the best sailings and cabins are still available. Below you’ll find what the 15% covers per route, the conditions that matter, and an honest look at when a fixed DFDS fare beats the discount.
In a nutshell
- Discount: 15% off, on one-way and return bookings
- Routes: Newcastle to Amsterdam, Dover to Calais, Dover to Dunkirk, Newhaven to Dieppe, Portsmouth to Jersey, Poole to Jersey, Rosslare to Dunkirk
- Book: 19 October 2026 to 1 February 2027
- Travel: 1 January to 31 December 2027 (Newhaven to Dieppe and Jersey: from 1 February 2027)
- Code: none. Start your booking from the offer page and the 15% shows in the fare summary
- Main catch: the Newcastle to Amsterdam early booking fare is non-refundable
What the 15% covers on each route
The discount is the same everywhere, but what it applies to differs. On the overnight routes it includes the cabin, which is where most of the money goes. On the day routes it covers the vehicle and passengers only.
| Route | 15% off | Travel dates 2027 | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Newcastle to Amsterdam | Cabin and vehicle fare | 1 January to 31 December | 15% deposit at booking, balance due 70 days before departure, non-refundable. Commodore cabins excluded |
| Dover to Calais | Vehicle and passenger fare | 1 January to 31 December | Compare with DFDS’s fixed day trip and short break fares first (see below) |
| Dover to Dunkirk | Vehicle and passenger fare | 1 January to 31 December | Same as Dover to Calais |
| Newhaven to Dieppe | Vehicle and passenger fare, not cabins | 1 February to 31 December | Selected sailings only |
| Portsmouth or Poole to Jersey | Vehicle and passenger fare, not cabins | 1 February to 31 December | No January sailings in the offer |
| Rosslare to Dunkirk | Cabin and vehicle fare | 1 January to 31 December | Commodore cabins excluded. Meals are included on this route |
How to book it
- Click the offer button above. It opens DFDS’s early booking page with the discount attached.
- Pick your route and your 2027 travel dates, then add passengers, vehicle and, on the overnight routes, a cabin.
- Check the fare summary before you pay. The 15% should be visible there. If it isn’t, go back to the offer page and start again: the discount only works on bookings started from there.
There is no code to type. If a DFDS promo code field appears, leave it empty for this offer.
Is 15% off actually the best DFDS deal?
Not always, and this is where it pays to do the sums. A percentage off a standard fare is only a good deal if the standard fare is the cheapest way to book your trip. On some DFDS routes it isn’t.
Dover to Calais and Dover to Dunkirk
DFDS’s standard one-way fares on the Dover routes start at £114 for a car and up to five people (DFDS, checked 1 November 2026). With 15% off that is roughly £97 one way, so about £194 for a return. DFDS also sells fixed short break fares on the same routes: a day trip from £79, three days from £119 and five days from £149 return, also for a car and up to five people. For any trip of up to five days, the fixed fares win comfortably. The early booking discount makes sense on Dover when you stay longer than five days, or when you sail on peak dates where the standard fare sits far above the from-price. Check both before you book, because you can’t combine them.
Newcastle to Amsterdam
Here the 15% is more interesting, because it comes off the cabin as well as the car. On an overnight crossing the cabin is the biggest part of the bill, and summer cabins on this route sell out early. Two things to weigh up. First, the fare is non-refundable: you pay a 15% deposit, the balance is due 70 days before you sail, and cancelling costs the full amount. Second, if you only want a day or two in Amsterdam without the car, the mini cruise with 33% off via FerryGoGo is usually the cheaper way to do it. The early booking offer is the one for a proper holiday with the car in the boot.
Jersey and Newhaven to Dieppe
On the Jersey routes and Newhaven to Dieppe the discount applies to the vehicle and passenger fare only, and travel starts on 1 February 2027. Newhaven to Dieppe is limited to selected sailings, so if the discount doesn’t show for your date, try a different departure before giving up. DFDS doesn’t publish fixed short break fares for these routes the way it does for Dover, so here the 15% is the discount to have.
Rosslare to Dunkirk
Travelling from Ireland, compare the 15% with DFDS’s all-inclusive Rosslare to Dunkirk fare from €440 one way for a car, up to four people and a cabin, with meals included. Meals are included in the early booking fare too, so it comes down to which total is lower for your cabin type and date.
Who should book now, and who should wait
- Book now: families with fixed 2027 school holiday dates, especially on Newcastle to Amsterdam, where the discount includes the cabin and peak sailings fill up first.
- Book now: longer trips to France via Dover, where a standard return with 15% off beats the five-day fare.
- Book now: drivers from Ireland heading to the continent without crossing Britain, once you’ve compared it with the all-inclusive fare.
- Wait or choose another fare: short breaks of up to five days via Dover, where the fixed fares are cheaper.
- Wait: anyone whose dates might still move on Newcastle to Amsterdam. The non-refundable fare is not worth 15% if there’s a real chance you’ll cancel.
What we know from our own crossings
We’ve sailed Newcastle to Amsterdam with DFDS ourselves, and on Dover to Calais we’ve crossed with DFDS, P&O Ferries and Irish Ferries in the same comparison. On the overnight route the cabin makes or breaks the trip, which is exactly why a discount that includes the cabin is worth more than one that doesn’t. On Dover to Calais the DFDS crossing is practical rather than special, and the price difference between the three operators changes by sailing, so the fare matters more than the brand. Read our Newcastle to Amsterdam crossing report and our Dover to Calais comparison for the detail.
The small print
- New bookings only, subject to availability.
- Cannot be combined with other DFDS discounts or offers, including the FerryGoGo-exclusive mini cruise discount.
- Newcastle to Amsterdam: 15% deposit at booking, balance 70 days before departure, 100% cancellation fee. Commodore cabins excluded.
- Rosslare to Dunkirk: Commodore cabins excluded, meals included.
- Newhaven to Dieppe: selected sailings only.
- Telephone booking fees apply. DFDS’s general terms and conditions apply.
Our tip
Price your trip twice: once via the early booking page and once as a standard booking or a fixed short break fare. On Dover the fixed fares often win for short trips. On Newcastle to Amsterdam, book the early booking fare only when your dates are certain. Also check P&O Ferries and Irish Ferries for your Dover date before you commit.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a DFDS discount code for the early booking offer?
No. The 15% is applied automatically when you start your booking from the early booking page. There is nothing to type in the promo code field.
Until when can I book?
The booking window runs from 19 October 2026 to 1 February 2027. Travel is in 2027: from 1 January on Newcastle to Amsterdam, Dover to Calais, Dover to Dunkirk and Rosslare to Dunkirk, and from 1 February on Newhaven to Dieppe and the Jersey routes.
Does the 15% apply to the cabin?
On Newcastle to Amsterdam and Rosslare to Dunkirk, yes: the discount covers the cabin and vehicle fare, with Commodore cabins excluded. On Newhaven to Dieppe and the Jersey routes the discount covers the vehicle and passenger fare only.
Can I cancel an early booking fare?
On Newcastle to Amsterdam the early booking fare is non-refundable: a 100% cancellation fee applies, and you pay a 15% deposit at booking with the balance due 70 days before departure. For the other routes DFDS’s normal ticket conditions apply.
Is the early booking offer cheaper than DFDS’s short break fares to France?
For trips of up to five days via Dover, usually not. The fixed day trip, three-day and five-day fares are normally lower than a standard return with 15% off. For longer stays or peak dates, the early booking discount is the better option.
Can I combine it with the FerryGoGo mini cruise discount?
No. DFDS only applies one offer per booking. Choose the one that gives the lowest total for your trip.
Our verdict
A broad, simple discount that is worth taking when your 2027 plans are clear, and at its best on Newcastle to Amsterdam, where the cabin is included in the 15%. On the Dover routes, do the comparison with the fixed short break fares first; for short trips they usually come out cheaper.
