If you're travelling from Germany, you'll first need to reach Sjaelland (Copenhagen's island) via the Puttgarden-Rรธdby ferry or the Rostock-Gedser crossing, followed by a drive up to Copenhagen.

Travelling by ferry to Copenhagen is an excellent way to reach the Danish capital well-rested. There are many ways to get to Copenhagen; in this overview, you'll only find the most logical options.
As mentioned, there is a direct connection by ferry from Oslo to Copenhagen. If you're travelling from Sweden and live near Malmรถ, you can use the รresund Bridge crossing from Malmรถ to Copenhagen.
When travelling from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK, France, or most other European countries, it makes sense to travel via the Puttgarden-Rรธdby ferry to the Sjaelland region and drive from there to Copenhagen.
Travelling to Copenhagen from Germany (via Denmark)
When travelling from the European continent to Copenhagen, you'll need to pass through Germany. From Germany, two ferries sail to Sjaelland, the island on the way to Copenhagen. If you want to take a shortcut, your options are the Puttgarden-Rรธdby and Rostock-Gedser crossings. Alternatively, you can drive the entire route via the Danish highways.
Travelling to Copenhagen from Norway (via Denmark)
There is a direct crossing from Oslo to Copenhagen, but it might be easier to travel via one of the other ferries. If you live in or near Kristiansand, Langesund, Bergen, or Larvik, you can take a ferry to Hirtshals and then drive from there to Copenhagen. You can also take another crossing on the Aarhus-Odden ferry to reach Copenhagen from northern Denmark.
Alternatively, you could drive from Hirtshals to Sweden via the รresund Bridge, which is a great option if you need to travel to southern Sweden.
Travelling to Copenhagen from Swedenย
When travelling from Sweden to Copenhagen, the most logical route is likely via the รresund Bridge from Malmรถ to Copenhagen. However, the Helsingborg-Helsingรธr crossing could also be a good option if you live further north in Sweden. If you're considering the Gothenburg-Frederikshavn crossing, it might be best if you don't want to spend too much time on a ferry and live in the northern parts of Sweden.
