From Germany to Lithuania
Kiel to Klaipėda (DFDS) is the direct route from Germany: 20 to 21.5 hours on board Regina Seaways or Aura Seaways, six times a week. DFDS prices start from about €77 per person when four people share a cabin with a car.
Travemünde to Klaipėda and Rostock to Klaipėda (TT-Line) take 18 to 31 hours. From Travemünde there are direct sailings on Fridays and Saturdays; other sailings, and most from Rostock, call at Trelleborg or Karlshamn, where you change ship. Check the routing when you book, because it makes a big difference to your arrival time.
From Sweden to Lithuania
Karlshamn to Klaipėda is the quickest crossing to Lithuania, about 13 hours and usually overnight. Since autumn 2025 DFDS and TT-Line share this route: you can book with either company, and there are about nine sailings a week in each direction.
Trelleborg to Klaipėda is TT-Line’s route from the southern tip of Sweden, handy if you drive in via Denmark and the Øresund Bridge. The crossing takes 16.5 hours or more, with up to five sailings a week; DFDS sells this route too.
From the UK and Poland
There is no ferry from the UK to Lithuania. With a car, sail to the Netherlands, drive about 6 to 7 hours to Kiel and take the DFDS ferry to Klaipėda.
There is no ferry between Poland and Lithuania either. By sea you can sail Świnoujście to Trelleborg with TT-Line (about 6.5 hours) and continue to Klaipėda, but most travellers from Poland simply drive across the border.
Make it a Baltic round trip
Klaipėda works well as the first or last stop of a road trip through the Baltics. Sail Kiel to Klaipėda, drive north through Latvia to Tallinn, cross to Helsinki and sail back to Germany from there. Or stay close to Klaipėda: the small ferry to the Curonian Spit leaves right from the city.
More options for the region: all ferries to the Baltics, Latvia and Estonia.
Quick questions: ferries to Lithuania
Are there ferries from Germany to Lithuania?
Yes. DFDS sails Kiel to Klaipėda directly six times a week in about 20 to 21.5 hours. TT-Line sails from Travemünde and Rostock to Klaipėda in 18 to 31 hours; some of those sailings change ship in Sweden.
Can you travel to Lithuania by ferry from Sweden?
Yes. Karlshamn to Klaipėda takes about 13 hours and is sailed by both DFDS and TT-Line. TT-Line also sails Trelleborg to Klaipėda, which takes 16.5 hours or more.
Do I need a cabin on the ferry to Lithuania?
On most fares a cabin is optional, but because every crossing is overnight or longer, most travellers book one. Check the conditions of your fare when you book.
Is there a ferry from Poland to Lithuania?
No. You can sail Świnoujście to Trelleborg and continue Trelleborg to Klaipėda, but driving across the border is much quicker.
Is there a ferry from the UK to Lithuania?
No. Sail from the UK to the Netherlands, drive to Kiel in Germany and take the DFDS ferry to Klaipėda.

If there is a dual path I might be able to take from the UK, please let me know. For instance, I noticed in the FAQs that a ferry leaves from Germany. But the time it will take to transfer at the port is the only thing that worries me.
