There is currently only one ferry route available to El Hierro, this is from Los Cristianos in the South-West of Tenerife.
How to get there when you want to fly to Tenerife and then ferry to El Hierro
- The best place to fly to is the Tenerife South (TFS) From there you can take a bus or taxi towards Los Cristianos.ย
- From Los Cristianos there are up to two ferries per day sailing to El Hierro. The travel time is 2 hours and 30 minutes.ย
- You'll be sailing with Armas on the Volcan de Tirajana and you arrive in Puerto de la Estaca near Valverde.
- The ship is with 25 knots a very fast catamaran ferry.ย

Valverde is the village you arrive in, (20 minutes from the harbor) it's a very old city (15th century) it's never busy though in this city. While on Tenerife you face thousands of other tourists every day, here you'll only spot like 50 of them around the Island. Enjoy the calm and relaxed atmosphere and bring a good book with you!

There used to be a Fred Olsen connection many years ago but now it's only Armas sailing to and from this Island.ย
The main port of El Hierro is: La Estaca, you have a small beach there, and busses going from there to Valverde ( Bus lines 03 and 11) The distance between the city and the port is approximately 15 km. That means it takes about 20 minutes extra to reach Valverde.
On all ferries in the Canary Islands dogs are allowed on the ferries.
